We're beginning to build a little steam here at DorsiaFilms and getting
some attention from all over. I've received a bunch of questions
about the film, about me, and about the site. So in an effort to reallocate
some of my time from administrative correspondence to more hard-core editing
of the film, let's have a FAQ section, shall we?
Q: So is John telling you what to do and you're making the film so that
he'll approve of it? Is Barsuk telling you what should and shouldn't be a part
of it? Because that would be lame.
A: When John and I discussed the idea of a documentary, he said he wanted
it to be as real as possible, showing warts and all. The title he
volunteered for the film was "John Roderick is a Big Fat Asshole". I should
have probably gone with that. And Barsuk has been nothing but gracious to me.
They have no reason to trust me, and they probably don't. But once they see the
finished film...they will. Oh they will.
Q: Who is funding the film? And don't you have to bend to the will of whoever
is paying for it?
A: I am funding the film myself, with the help of a good credit score.
Q: When will I be able to see the film?
A: I don't know because I'm not finished editing it yet. That September due date
seems kind of far-fetched now that I think about it.
Q: But what about all that time you were going to take off from your day job to
finish the film?
A: That didn't go over too well at work. Plan B is nights and weekends.
Q: I have film footage, or pictures that would just be perfect for the film.
You should take a look at them, and maybe you can use them?
A: That'd be super. I'm really only interested in photographs at the moment,
but if there is (non-shaky) video out there of things like the Western State Hurricanes,
or John playing on stage with The Decemberists and other bands, or John and Sean shows I'd like to see it.
Photographs or footage that predate this production are especially helpful.
Contact me and we can work out the details.
Q: When are you going to put more footage online?
A: How about now?
