Production Journal
Updated 10.13.06
It's been a while since there's been an update and I owe it to you, dear reader,
to break this long radio silence and tell you all about the goings-on here with
The Long Winters Documentary.
One very exciting development has been finding some real, live, Western State
Hurricanes video footage, something I originally thought to be impossible. Another
one has been the amazing contributions some local music photographers are making
to this film. I'm not at a point now where
I can reveal too much because things haven't been finalized yet, but their work
is amazing and will help make this film something special.
The editing is progressing, but lately I'm doing a lot of going back and forth
between editing and logging. Not all of the tapes were logged and marked when
I began editing so what I'm doing is editing the parts that have already been
digitized while at the same time logging and marking the tapes that haven't already
been digitized. Make sense? It's not too confusing keeping things straight, but finishing the
marking and logging before ever starting the edit would have made life easier.
There are just a few tapes left to do, then it'll be all editing all the time.
As ever, there will be no prediction of a 'done by' date. As it goes with any
fine wine, this vintner plans on pantslessly crushing these grapes until perfection
oozes from his toes, and not a minute sooner. But I promise you, this reddish-style
wine drink will not disappoint once it's done.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who supported The Long Winters while on their
North American tour, and in doing so have found their way here. In a few days
John Roderick will be making the trip to Europe to play some solo
shows, then the rest of the band will join him once the barrels they're traveling in
clear customs a few weeks later.
