About the Film
Updated 08.19.07
DorsiaFilms is currently in production on a documentary film titled Through With Love, about
The Long Winters,
a Seattle, Washington indie-rock band on the
Barsuk Records label.
The Long Winters are a swirling vortex of incredible songwriting and musicianship,
with a healthy dose of utter rock star demystification.
To begin to tell the story of The Long Winters, you really have to start with
the story of their frontman, John Roderick.
After reaching local fame in the Western State Hurricanes, the band's break-up
during the peak of their popularity was a catalyst for John's five month walk from
Amsterdam to Istanbul. Returning bearded and emaciated, he vowed never to
play music again.
But John had some unfinished business, and after recording the album
The Worst You Can Do Is Harm, forming The Long Winters became that
business.
This film will tell a compelling story of self-destruction and
resignation, of ambition and second chances, and of burned bridges and
taking the long way around.
Filming Through With Love began in November of 2005 as The Long
Winters recorded their latest release,
Putting the Days to Bed.
For three months, Adam and Jace filmed at Studio Litho,
capturing the creativity, frustration, and monotony of recording the album.
Add to this footage from the fifteen different live performances and dozens of interviews and the result is a film coalescing into
a singular music documentary experience.

Current Film Status: Post Production
Adam Pranica (producer / director / cameraman / editor)
has worked in nearly every capacity on many
short films and one long one - so he’s got that going for him. He's
also a screenwriter, and has written one feature-length screenplay and
co-written another.
Jace Krause (cameraman / sound recordist & engineer) has never said no when asked to help with the
film, which means a lot when the entire crew is only two people. He
has a band of his own called Friday Mile, which
is entirely worthy of your attention.
